Christmas in New York

First of all, I must start with the flight to New York.  We arrived at the Santa Barbara to discover that our flight was delayed to San Francisco which would cause us to miss our plane to New York.  Before we got up to the front of the line we heard murmurings that we would have to wait to two more days until we would be able to arrive in New York.

It was looking like this travel day would be quite a bear to deal with.  When we finally got up to the front counter to learn if we gave up some of our miles we would secure seats in  business class.  At this point, Parker had saved up several miles so we were good to go.

Truly, it was the best flight that I have ever had.  A lovely three course meal with a comfy white blanket over my legs along with a digital player stocked with many shows to choose from.  I didn’t want it to end.

We arrived in New York around the time that our original flight was supposed to land.  It turned out to be a great travel day after all.  Thank you, God!

It was cold and windy with a sea of lights and brimming with electricity.  Our driver said the famous New York “Forget about it!” during our ride to the hotel.  When we arrived at the Gossip Girl famed Empire Hotel nestled next to Lincoln Center, we witnessed a line wrapped around the building for a rooftop bar located within our hotel.

Our hotel room though small in square footage carried all the nice finishes along with a spa like smell. We made a midnight trek to the Starbucks on the corner for snacks, water and a taste of home in the big city.  We fell asleep at 2 am looking forward to the next day’s adventure.

Our first real day in New York involved Central Park, FAO Schwartz, Dylan’s Candy store and Serendipity.   Here is a little peek at our lovely day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SntpUDYZLH4

The truth is that I have been grinning from ear to ear.  I have always wanted to be in New York during Christmas time and I am seeing and doing things that I have dreamed about.  Dreams are being realized on this trip.
